Today's price per GB and airtime cashback, so you can spot a real deal

Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November this year. Before the adverts start, write down what a gigabyte costs you today on your own network. That one figure lets you test all the Black Friday data deals that land on your phone. It also catches an everyday price hiding behind a sale banner.

When is Black Friday 2026 in Nigeria?

Black Friday is always the day after American Thanksgiving. This year Thanksgiving lands on Thursday 26 November, which makes the 27th the sale day. Cyber Monday follows on the 30th.

Expect the adverts early. Last year one big online retailer ran its Black Friday sale from the last day of October right through to the end of November, even though the day itself was 28 November. Plan for a similar long stretch. The first "limited time" message may reach you while half your bundle is still unused.

No network treats Black Friday as a data event, and Glo's 2023 Black Friday promo was about smartphones. Most Black Friday data deals you'll see come from apps and vendors reselling normal plans. Some are good. Others are the everyday price with a red banner stuck on top, so hold each one up against the network's own plan menu before you pay.

What to have ready before the adverts start

Ten minutes now saves you from panic-buying later.

Start with your current plan. Note its size, how long it lasts and what you paid. That's the line every advert has to beat. Dial *323# or open your network's app to see your data balance and expiry date, then dial *312# for the network's own plan menu. Once you've seen the standard list, a normal plan dressed up in seasonal clothes is easy to spot.

Fund your app wallet early if you buy through one, because a two-hour flash price can end while your bank transfer is still sitting on pending.

"Black Friday free data" links on WhatsApp are scams. No network needs your PIN, OTP or BVN to give you data. Delete the message, even when your aunty sends it with the "Forwarded many times" label on top.

Don't renew a monthly plan early just because an advert looks urgent. Rollover rules differ from plan to plan. If your unused data won't carry over, buying early throws away whatever is left.

Today's price per GB: the yardstick for Black Friday data deals

Any offer you see later has to beat these numbers on the same network, for a similar number of days.

MTN, Airtel and Glo price per GB, 6 November 2026

Prices on AidaPay as at 6 November 2026, with cashback (full list: today's data and airtime prices). Per GB is the price before cashback divided by the data size.

PlanLastsPrice (cashback)Per GB
Glo AWUF 10.5GB30 days₦2,865 (₦28.65 cashback)₦273
Glo 1GB30 days₦440 (₦5.18 cashback)₦440
Airtel 8GB1 month₦2,965 (₦15 cashback)₦371
Airtel 3GB1 month₦1,980 (₦15 cashback)₦660
MTN 3GB Data Transfer30 days₦1,300 (₦13 cashback)₦433
MTN 1GB Data Transfer7 days₦400 (₦4 cashback)₦400
MTN 20GB Weekly AWUF7 days₦4,925 (₦29.55 cashback)₦246

Look at the days, not just the gigabytes. MTN's weekly AWUF bundle is the cheapest per GB here. It's also gone in seven days. Unless you'll really get through 20GB in a week, it's the wrong yardstick. If your month is mostly scrolling on the bus and the odd video at night, compare against a 30-day plan on your network instead, and on MTN that bar sits at ₦433 per GB.

Airtime bonus vs everyday cashback

With airtime, ask what comes back on every ₦1,000 you spend. AidaPay pays the cashback below on airtime, as at the same date. It's app cashback, not a network bonus.

NetworkCashback on airtime
Glo3.5%
MTN1.8%
T2 (formerly 9mobile)1%
Airtel0.9%

Say you plan to top up ₦5,000 of MTN airtime and an advert offers a 10% Black Friday bonus on it. That bonus is worth ₦500. Everyday cashback on the same top-up comes to ₦90. The bonus wins easily, as long as it arrives as normal airtime you can spend.

Some bonuses don't. They land in a separate bonus wallet, where the credit may cover only some calls or data and can expire fast. Unless the terms say it's spendable main airtime, value it well below the headline.

How to tell if a Black Friday deal is really cheaper: 6 checks

Keep the table open on your phone and run each offer through these steps:

  1. Write down the data size, the number of days and the price.
  2. Divide the price by the number of GB.
  3. Compare your answer with the table row for the same network and similar validity.
  4. Read what the data covers. Social-only, YouTube-only or night-time data isn't the same as all-purpose data.
  5. Check whether you can send the plan to another number or only to your own line.
  6. Dial *323# straight after paying to confirm the data has landed.

Say an advert offers MTN 7GB for a month at ₦2,100. Divide, and you get ₦300 per GB. That clears the MTN monthly yardstick by a good margin. It's a real saving, provided the data works on every app and isn't locked to social media.

Walk away from three things: a "was" price the plan never cost, a countdown timer on a standard plan, and any seller who wants a transfer to a personal account. Pay through the network's app, its USSD menu, or a vendor you already trust.

Don't pay twice. Give the network a few minutes to send its confirmation SMS, then dial *323# to see whether the data landed. If the purchase shows as pending, leave it alone, because a second payment can go through as well and you'd end up buying the same bundle two times.

If you were debited and the purchase failed, send the vendor your transaction reference and ask for a reversal. When the network itself took your money and sent no data, complain to the network first. Still stuck? Call the NCC on 622.

Do one thing today. Type your per-GB number into your notes app next to your network's name, and on Black Friday you'll judge any offer in seconds.

This page gets fresh prices and sale details as soon as the Black Friday offers go live.

Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026 in Nigeria?
Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday three days later. Sale adverts usually start weeks before the day itself.
Are there Black Friday data deals on MTN, Airtel or Glo?
No network has made Black Friday a data event, and Glo's 2023 promo was for smartphones. Most "data deals" come from apps and vendors selling normal plans, so dial *312# and see the standard list before you pay.
Is a Black Friday airtime bonus better than cashback?
Only when it's bigger and you can spend it as normal airtime. On a ₦5,000 MTN top-up, a 10% bonus is worth ₦500, while everyday app cashback gives back ₦90. Restricted bonus credit is worth far less than its headline.
Is Black Friday free data on WhatsApp real?
No. Those links are scams, and no network needs your PIN, OTP or BVN to give you data. Delete the message and don't forward it.
I paid for a Black Friday data deal and didn't get it. What do I do?
Don't pay again. Wait for the confirmation SMS, then dial *323#. If you were debited and got nothing, send the vendor your transaction reference, and call the NCC on 622 if the network doesn't sort it out.
How much discount does Black Friday give on data?
There's no fixed discount, so work it out per GB. An MTN monthly offer at ₦300 per GB beats the MTN 30-day plan in the table. An offer that doesn't beat today's price per GB on your network isn't a discount.
