Cheap Glo Data Plan: What ₦500 to ₦5,000 Buys vs Awoof Codes

A cheap Glo data plan is the one that still has data on the last day of the month. For most people on a small income, that means Glo's regular ₦2,000 monthly bundle. After Glo's revision it gives 6.25GB, slightly more than the awoof code sold at the same price.

That small budget has to cover classes, WhatsApp, research and a little fun, and the same squeeze hits an apprentice, a corps member posted far from home or anyone paid by the day. Prices are as at 29 September 2026.

Which Glo data plan is the best for students and apprentices

Start with the student. Lecture notes land as PDFs in the class WhatsApp group, a few lecturers still teach on Zoom, and every assignment sends you hunting for sources online. Weekends bring a few videos that feel earned.

Apprentices are different. A tailor's or mechanic's apprentice sends voice notes and photos of finished work to customers all day. Text and pictures are light. Video calls are not. A corps member, meanwhile, spends most of the bundle on calls home, while a bus conductor or market porter tops up in small amounts whenever cash comes in, so how long a plan lasts can matter more to them than its size.

A one-day plan is wasted on the apprentice but suits the student with one big download.

Glo data plan price: what ₦500, ₦1,000, ₦2,000 and ₦5,000 buy

Glo's own figures below come from its October 2025 revision, which ThisDay covered. The rest of the menu comes from NaijaTechGuide's full Glo list, updated in February 2026.

₦500 Glo weekly data plan: 1.55GB

You trade time against volume here. NaijaTechGuide lists 1.55GB at this price, valid for a week. If you sleep at night, skip the night-only plans that promise more data for less, and remember that a bigger one-day plan at the same price only helps with one large download.

₦1,000 Glo data plan for 30 days: 2.6GB

NaijaTechGuide lists 2.6GB that lasts a month. That covers WhatsApp and PDFs if video waits for Wi-Fi. The same money buys a larger weekly plan, which suits one heavy week and leaves nothing for the other three.

₦2,000 Glo monthly data plan: 6.25GB

Most students on a tight budget land here. Glo's revision puts the regular monthly bundle at 6.25GB, with the free night window plus rollover when you renew on time.

On paper the weekly plan looks better. Glo's weekly bundle now gives 6GB, cheap per gigabyte. Buy it four weeks running at ₦1,500 a time, though, and the month costs you three times what you planned. Keep it for the week a project is due.

₦5,000 Glo data plan: 16.5GB or Always On, the nearest to unlimited

Now you choose a style. NaijaTechGuide lists 16.5GB for the month on the regular menu. Glo's account on X says its Always On plan at this price gives 30GB, released one gigabyte a day.

That daily drip is the catch and the point. You can't burn the month in one weekend, but you also can't pull two days' worth on the night your thesis draft is due and the library Wi-Fi is down, which is exactly when you'd want to. A corps member who calls home every evening will like it; a student who downloads in bursts may not.

Campus Booster, Glo's plan for students, got bigger allocations in the revision. The prices circulating online for it don't trace back to any Glo page, so check it on your own line.

Glo awoof data code: what it is and the catches

Awoof is Nigerian slang for something you get free or far below its worth. On Glo, the word gets stuck on two deals that travel as screenshots: the ₦200 gigabyte, and the Always On codes Pulse Nigeria listed this May. Both exist. Neither is quite what the screenshot says.

Glo 200 for 1GB: Sunday-only and night-only deals

No permanent plan at that price gives a full gigabyte you can use at any hour. Glo's Facebook page once advertised a slightly bigger bundle at that price, valid on Sundays only. Gizmosum, a Nigerian tech site, lists a separate night plan at the same price that works only after midnight.

Picture a friend forwarding the code at noon. You dial it before an afternoon class, the airtime goes, and the data sits there doing nothing until midnight, long after the lecture you bought it for has ended. For a night owl with a course video to download, that's a bargain. Everyone else pays for hours they sleep through.

Glo awoof codes *312*183# and *312*184#: Always On plans

According to Pulse Nigeria's May list, both codes are Glo Always On plans. The cheaper one gives 6GB for the same money as Glo's regular monthly bundle, and since that bundle now gives 6.25GB, the awoof label doesn't survive a side-by-side look. Some bargain.

Pulse puts the bigger one at 15GB, with no daily split. Compare its price on the *312# menu against the regular menu before you confirm. Pulse also says Always On keeps you connected at a slower speed once the main volume runs out. Fine for WhatsApp. Useless for a video lecture.

Your own line or another number

Glo tells you to load airtime on your phone and dial its data code, so a code buys data for the line you dial from, not your sibling's. ThisDay reports that Glo supports sharing and gifting through its USSD menu or the Glo Café app.

How to make Glo data last: night data, Wi-Fi and WhatsApp settings

How you spend a bundle matters as much as which one you buy. Glo's revision page says every bundle now includes free night data between midnight and dawn. Glo publishes no cap on it, so treat it as a bonus and save phone updates, course videos and big app downloads for after midnight.

WhatsApp is where most small budgets leak, because every video and photo in a busy group downloads by itself unless you change one setting. WhatsApp's Help Center gives the steps:

1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
2. Tap Storage and data.
3. Under Media auto-download, set photos, audio, videos and documents to Wi-Fi or Never.

Got hostel or office Wi-Fi? Save long videos for it. ThisDay reports that Glo messages you when most of your data is gone and again when it runs out, and Pulse gives *323# as the code to check your Glo data balance. People forget rollover. Under the revised terms, unused data carries over only if you renew before expiry or within a short grace period that varies by plan. Pick one renewal date, stick to it, and set a reminder well before exam week.

Where a cheap Glo data plan costs less: AidaPay vs Glo's own menu

A VTU app changes the maths for small sizes and doesn't always help at the big end. None of the Glo plans on AidaPay is sold as awoof, so the fair comparison is against Glo's own menu at a similar size.

Paid by the day? The small month-long plans help, because Glo's own small plans expire fast. For a big monthly bundle on your own line, Glo's menu is the better buy.
