New DStv Packages in Nigeria: 5 Tiers, Prices and Compact Plus
The new DStv packages are Starter, Select, Sports, Movies & Series and Premium. Compact Plus goes, prices are expected on 27 October, and here's what you pay today.

Nigeria has no new DStv prices yet. The new DStv packages are five tiers, Starter at the bottom and Premium at the top, and Compact Plus is going. Naira prices arrive on 27 October.
That R799 deal is South African. Until your package switches over in November you keep paying today's rates, which sit in the price table further down, so keep your own figure handy. Here's how it got here, date by date.
July 2026: Price Lock sales paused in South Africa
In July, MultiChoice stopped selling new Price Lock contracts in South Africa while it rebuilt its packages. Price Lock rolled the decoder, the installation and the subscription into one two-year contract, a bit like buying a phone on contract and paying it off monthly. Existing customers keep theirs until it ends. Don't expect it back.

Price Lock was only ever sold in South Africa, so no Nigerian subscriber has lost a contract over it.
Early October: M-Net Movies cut to three channels, SuperSport Kick-Off and France 24 added
MultiChoice trimmed M-Net Movies to three channels. Cheaper bouquets come out ahead, because DStv Yanga, Confam and GOtv Max now carry M-Net Movies Legends and some films reach you up to six months sooner. Your film-spoiling colleagues just lost some power. M-Net Movies+ stays on Premium only.
Two channels joined the line-up at the same time, SuperSport Kick-Off for the football fans in the house and France 24 for anyone who wants news.
15 October: the new DStv packages announced in Lagos
In Lagos, Kemi Omotosho, CEO of Canal+ MultiChoice Nigeria, announced five tiers with Premium still on top and Starter as the new entry tier. DStv Lite is expected to fold into Starter. MultiChoice promises more content, more choice and better value at the same price, and that is not the same thing as a price cut. Hold your applause for the naira figures.
The five tiers, announced on 15 October 2026:
| Tier | What you know so far |
|---|---|
| Starter | Entry tier, about 90 channels; DStv Lite expected to fold in |
| Select | Channels and naira price due on 27 October |
| Sports | Channels and naira price due on 27 October |
| Movies & Series | Channels and naira price due on 27 October |
| Premium | Stays the top tier |
East and West Africa share a satellite transponder, so both regions should get the same line-up, while Southern African markets follow the South African model.
Is DStv Compact Plus discontinued?
Yes, Compact Plus is going. Plain Compact isn't among the five names either. No official migration table exists, so nobody can tell you today which new tier replaces the package you pay for now.
Choose by channels once the line-ups are out. Football fans, check Sports first. Film and series homes start with Movies & Series. And if your evenings swing between football and Nollywood, put Select and Premium side by side and pick the cheaper one that carries both.
24 October: the R799 'cheaper DStv' deal is South Africa's
If a cheaper-DStv message reached your family WhatsApp group on 24 October, look at the currency first. Every price in it is in rand.
Premium on contract now costs R799 there, down from R979. Only customers who commit to the full two-year term get that rate. South Africans can also test DStv Movies & Series for R500 a month on a decoder or a stream, in a trial running six to twelve months. MultiChoice also withdrew the HD decoder-plus-installation contract and the R199 DStv Access contract there.
None of these rand prices applies in Nigeria. Converting them to naira tells you nothing about your next bill, because Nigeria gets its own prices.
Canal+ released its nine-month revenue figures the same day, and if you go looking in them for a single naira subscription price, you won't find one.
25 October: how much DStv and GOtv packages cost now
Monthly prices as at 25 October 2026, with the cashback each package pays back on AidaPay.
| Package | Monthly price | AidaPay cashback |
|---|---|---|
| DStv Premium | ₦44,500 | ₦66.75 |
| DStv Compact Plus | ₦30,000 | ₦45 |
| DStv Compact | ₦19,000 | ₦28.50 |
| DStv Confam | ₦11,000 | ₦16.50 |
| DStv Yanga | ₦6,000 | ₦9 |
| DStv Padi | ₦4,400 | ₦6.60 |
| GOtv Supa Plus | ₦16,800 | ₦25.20 |
| GOtv Supa | ₦11,400 | ₦17.10 |
| GOtv Max | ₦8,500 | ₦12.75 |
| GOtv Open | ₦6,600 | ₦9.90 |
| GOtv Jolli | ₦5,800 | ₦8.70 |
| GOtv Jinja | ₦3,900 | ₦5.85 |
| GOtv Smallie | ₦1,900 | ₦2.85 |
Measure the new prices against today's gaps. Premium sits ₦14,500 above Compact Plus. If the new middle tiers land close to Premium, the top package is the better buy, but if they land well below it, the middle tiers are safer.
On Compact Plus, write down the ₦30,000 you pay now. If the tier carrying your channels comes in under that, you save on every renewal, and if it's higher, the gap is what your shows cost you each month from November. Premium homes run the same sum with ₦44,500.
You can pay for GOtv at today's price or renew your DStv subscription on AidaPay, for your own decoder or your mum's.
27 October and November: what to do before you renew
Expect naira prices, channel lists and the rules for moving from your current package on 27 October, with the rollout following in November. Kenya is phasing its rollout through the month. Nigeria's switch may come in stages too.
- Renew at today's price if your subscription runs out before 27 October.
- Find your favourite channels in the new line-ups.
- Note the tier that carries them.
- Compare that tier's price with your row in the table above.
- On Compact Plus, finish this check before your first November renewal.
Screenshot the price table now. When the naira prices drop, one look tells you whether your bill went up or down, without digging through old receipts. Until your package moves, renewing keeps the screen on, so there's no need to rush the comparison on the day itself.
