The cheap ₦200 special bundle has ended. Its shortcode is still listed with no end date, so don't plan your week around it. Codes and prices here are as at 4 November 2026.

The MoMo USSD code to buy data, one step at a time

You need two things: a funded MoMo wallet and the MTN SIM linked to it. The menu only opens on that line. It also pays only from that wallet, so if yours is empty, skip to the funding section first and come back.

1. Dial *671# from the MTN SIM linked to your MoMo wallet.
2. Choose the option for airtime and data.
3. Choose data, then the network.
4. Say whether it's for your number or another one, and type the other number if needed.
5. Pick the bundle from the list on your screen.
6. Enter your MoMo PIN to confirm.

Three kinds of MoMo user, and the route that suits each

Two things decide your route: whose line gets the data, and whether your money sits in the MoMo wallet or as airtime on your SIM.

Your own line, daily data: the ₦200 code has ended, use *671#

Maybe you got used to dialling *671*200*1# every morning. That deal has ended. The code is still listed, which is why so many people keep trying it, but it no longer gives you the cheap 1GB. Even when it ran, it only worked on your own MTN line, with no sharing and no auto-renewal. For daily data now, dial *671#, choose data, and pick a regular daily bundle from the list on your screen.

A bigger special bundle, 2.5GB, is still listed. Its official code is *671*500*1#. You may also see *671*500*2# shared for the same bundle. Whichever one you dial, read the price on the confirmation screen before you type your PIN.

Buying for a sibling, a parent or another number

Use the *671# menu or the app. Special bundle shortcodes never worked for other lines, but the menu sends data to any network, so your sister on a different SIM is covered too.

One catch. The 2% data cashback only covers MTN data you buy for yourself, so gifts don't earn it.

No money in the wallet, only airtime

Dial *312# and pick from MTN's data plans. MTN takes the cost from the airtime balance on your line, not from MoMo. The full list of MTN USSD codes has the balance and borrowing codes too.

MoMo PSB wallet vs airtime: what you're actually paying with

MoMo PSB is a payment service bank. Your wallet there holds real naira, much like a basic bank account. Airtime is different. It's credit tied to your SIM, good mainly for calls and MTN services. Pay for data from the wallet and your airtime stays exactly where it was.

Airtime bought through MoMo has its own sweetener. MTN adds a 50% airtime bonus. On top of that, you get 2% airtime cashback. Because the bonus runs as a promotion, check the amount on the confirmation screen before you pay.
