IKEDC Token Not Received? Get It Back With *7024# or Your Receipt
Debited for light but no 20-digit token? Here are five reasons it happens, how to spot each one, how to retrieve the token, and who to contact when nothing works.

Your bank sent the debit alert, the meter is still beeping, and the token you paid for hasn't turned up anywhere. Don't pay again. Most cases of IKEDC token not received end well. The order may still be processing, the 20-digit token is often already on your receipt, and *7024# can resend it using your meter number.
Check the five causes below in order. Stop at the one that matches your screen.
The order is still pending with the vendor or the DisCo
Your bank took the money, but the vendor hasn't finished the order with Ikeja Electric yet. You'll see "pending" or "processing" on the order, or a debit with no receipt at all.
Give it some time. Then ask the vendor to check the order again, a step called a requery. On AidaPay, open Transactions, find the electricity order with today's amount and tap requery. Still pending? Raise a ticket from that same order.
Whatever you do, don't buy again from another app while the first order is stuck, because two successful orders mean two tokens, two debits and a hard refund fight. Ikeja Electric's site gives no fixed waiting time. When the order stays stuck, jump to the support steps at the end.
IKEDC token not received by SMS, but it's on your receipt
Open the receipt or the transaction details. Look for a long 20-digit number.
When it's there, the token exists and only the text message went astray. Copy it from the receipt and type it into your meter. Most vendors show the token on the receipt as well as in the SMS, and the receipt is the copy to trust when the network is acting up. Plenty of IKEDC token not received complaints end right there.
Texts go missing for ordinary reasons. Maybe you typed one digit of your phone number wrong at checkout, which is easy to do when you're buying light in the dark with your phone torch on. DND (Do Not Disturb, the network setting that blocks promotional texts) can also catch it. Some evenings the network is just slow. Check the phone number printed on the receipt before you blame the DisCo.
How to retrieve a lost IKEDC token with *7024#
No receipt at all? You can ask Ikeja Electric to resend your recent tokens to your phone. Techpoint Africa reports these steps for the company's USSD service:
- Dial *7024# from your phone.
- Choose Token Retrieval from the menu.
- Enter your meter number.
- Wait for the tokens to arrive by SMS.
Techpoint says the service carries a small charge of ₦20. Your NIN must also be linked to your meter first, according to the same report. Read each menu screen and confirm the charge before you accept. Ikeja Electric's website does have a Token Retrieval page, but as at 4 October 2026 it shows no form, so stick with the USSD code.
You typed the wrong meter number
This one hurts, so go slowly. Before you paid, the vending screen showed a customer name. A wrong name there, or a token that won't load on any meter in your house, usually means it went to someone else's meter.
A token belongs to whichever meter number you entered. Full stop. Legit.ng reported in October 2025 on a woman who sent ₦300,000 to a stranger's prepaid meter by mistake. Ikeja Electric told her it "can't refund or re-allocate" the credit.
So be realistic. Contact the DisCo with your receipt anyway, because that puts your case on record, but don't count on a reversal. Your best hope may be the owner of the other meter, assuming you can find them and they're willing to pay you back.
Ikeja Electric's vending system is down or slow
Sometimes the fault sits with the DisCo. When its vending system goes down, every vendor fails at the same moment, and your neighbours on the same DisCo will be complaining about it that same evening. Look for a notice on Ikeja Electric's official social media pages and the news section of its website.

It has happened before. In July 2022, Nairametrics reported that the company shut its billing and vending channels for a system upgrade. One payment channel still gave customers trouble after the restart.
The fix is boring, but it works. Wait for the system to come back, then requery your original order. Buying through three different apps during an outage leaves you with three stuck orders instead of one token.
The token arrived, but your meter won't take it
If you have the 20 digits but the token is not connecting to your meter, nothing is missing. Your meter has a different problem.
A common culprit is the KCT update. KCT stands for Key Change Token, a pair of extra codes that update the meter's software so it keeps accepting new tokens. Techpoint reported that the old software expired in November 2024. Ikeja Electric has a KCT Retrieval page on its site, and Techpoint says the same *7024# menu can send the KCTs too. For the error codes your meter might flash, see what each token error on your meter means.
On AEDC or another DisCo? Where to find your token
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) doesn't show a USSD retrieval code on its homepage. As at 4 October 2026, abujaelectricity.com sends customers to its payment hub at pay4energy.abujaelectricity.com and to its customer care team.
Start with the vendor's receipt when an AEDC token doesn't arrive. When that's empty too, contact AEDC customer care using the details in the table below, and keep your meter number and payment reference ready before you call.
Other DisCos work the same way. Each one can trace a token from the meter number and the payment reference, so hold on to both until the units show on your meter.
Still no token? Who to contact
Start with whoever took your money, because only the vendor can see where its own order got stuck. On AidaPay, go to Settings, then Support, where you can chat, raise a complaint ticket, call or send an email. Include the transaction reference from your receipt so the team finds the order quickly. When you next buy an IKEDC electricity token, the minimum is ₦500 as at 4 October 2026, with 0.2% cashback (₦1 back on ₦500).
Once the vendor shows the token as delivered and you still can't load it, your DisCo is next. Put the complaint in writing and ask for an acknowledgement. Ikeja Electric's head office is on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Alausa, Ikeja.
