DStv Subscription Prices and Channels: M-Net Movies From ₦6,000

Legends from ₦6,000, Stars from ₦16,800, Movies+ ₦44,500

DStv Yanga, at ₦6,000 a month, is the cheapest way to watch one of the new M-Net movie channels. It carries M-Net Movies Legends. Nothing cheaper on DStv or GOtv does, and the table below shows how much more you'll pay for Stars or Movies+.

You don't have to re-select anything. MultiChoice added the channels to the bouquets you already pay for, and your decoder picks them up by itself. DStv subscription prices haven't moved since the refresh either, and every figure in this piece is a monthly price in Nigeria.

What changed on 17 September, and why DStv prices stay unchanged in 2026

On 17 September, MultiChoice folded its old M-Net movie channels into three, and each one now has its own job and a fixed number on your remote. We won't guess the old channel names. Neither Legit nor Gazette lists them.

Movies+ gets the newest blockbusters, with fewer repeats, while Stars mixes big hits with older favourites across several genres. Legends, the one the cheaper bouquets carry, puts classics beside newer titles.

Two more channels arrived the same day. SuperSport Kick-Off covers football, while France 24 brings world news with an African focus, and MultiChoice also says lower packages will get some films up to six months earlier than before.

Checking what your decoder already gets takes about two minutes. Make sure your subscription is active, switch the decoder on, pick up the remote and go to the channel numbers below. On DStv, Legends is channel 108, Stars is 107, and Movies+ sits on 105, though that last one only plays on Premium. GOtv puts Legends on 50 and Stars on 53.

If the channel plays, it's already in your bouquet, but an error message means it isn't, and the sections below work out what adding it would cost you.

Prices are a separate story. On 5 October, Legit reported that MultiChoice plans to hold DStv subscription prices for the rest of the year, with no fresh annual increase. New package names and prices aren't out yet. MultiChoice says details will follow "in the coming weeks". Until the company publishes them itself, treat any new price list forwarded on WhatsApp with suspicion, even when it comes from your favourite aunty in the family group.

DStv subscription prices and channels: which bouquet has each movie

Legends is the easiest to reach. Every DStv bouquet from Yanga upwards carries it, and so does every GOtv package from Max up. Stars starts at DStv Compact, and on GOtv only Supa Plus has it, while Movies+ needs DStv Premium because no GOtv package carries it at all.

Step chart comparing the cheapest DStv and GOtv bouquet needed for each M-Net movie channel and its monthly price.
Legends is the cheapest route to a refreshed M-Net channel; Movies+ needs DStv Premium.

Legit's bouquet list shows none of the three movie channels on DStv Padi, GOtv Jinja or GOtv Jolli. On one of those, you'll have to move up at least one bouquet before a refreshed movie channel appears, and your smallest step to Legends depends on where you start:

  • DStv Padi to DStv Yanga: ₦1,600 more a month.
  • GOtv Jolli to GOtv Max: ₦2,700 more a month.
  • GOtv Jinja to GOtv Max: ₦4,600 more a month.

Switching from GOtv to DStv for the cheaper Yanga route means new hardware, and the Yanga section further down explains why that matters.

Prices as at 6 October 2026, read from the AidaPay DStv and GOtv catalogue. We matched each one against Legit's bouquet list from the day before. The yearly column is the monthly price times twelve, assuming nothing changes, and the last column shows AidaPay's 0.15% cashback on that price.

If you're happy where you are, you can renew your DStv subscription for your own decoder or your mum's.

On Confam, Compact Plus or GOtv Supa? What you have and the next step's cost

Plenty of homes sit in the middle. They pay more than Yanga but less than Premium, so look at what your bouquet already gives you before you hand over more money.

DStv Confam (₦11,000): Legends yes, Stars ₦8,000 more

Confam already shows Legends on channel 108. Stars isn't there, and moving up to Compact to get it adds ₦8,000 to your monthly bill.

DStv Compact Plus (₦30,000): Movies+ ₦14,500 more

Compact Plus already has both Legends and Stars, so only Movies+ is missing. Getting it means Premium, which adds ₦14,500 every month.

GOtv Supa (₦11,400): Legends yes, Stars on Supa Plus

Supa already shows Legends on channel 50, but for Stars you need Supa Plus, and the next section works through that step.

If your bouquet already has the channel you want, there's nothing to buy. Just switch over and enjoy the film.

From GOtv Max to Supa Plus: ₦8,300 more a month

Say your home runs on GOtv Max, so Legends is already there, and then someone in the house decides they want Stars as well. Now the conversation about money begins.

On GOtv, Stars means Supa Plus at ₦16,800 a month. That price comes from MultiChoice's March 2025 list as reported by Blueprint, but AidaPay's catalogue shows two Supa Plus entries and one of them reads ₦12,500. Check the current price on gotvafrica.com before you upgrade.

Against Max, Supa Plus costs ₦8,300 more each month, and over a full year that gap comes close to what a whole year of Max costs on its own. A Supa home faces a smaller jump of ₦5,400 a month.

Ask the person who wants Stars what they'll really watch on it, because the bigger bill keeps arriving every month whether anyone turns the channel on or not.

Is DStv Yanga cheaper than GOtv Max for Legends? ₦2,500 a month, before the dish

Both carry Legends. Yanga costs ₦2,500 a month less than GOtv Max, which adds up to ₦30,000 over a year.

For most GOtv homes, the hardware eats into that saving, because Yanga needs a satellite dish and a DStv decoder while GOtv runs on its own aerial and decoder. A house with only GOtv kit would need a dish, a new decoder and someone to mount and point it. We couldn't find an official price for that setup, so get a quote from an installer before you count the saving. Compare sport and local channels too. A cheaper bouquet saves you nothing if it drops the match your whole house gathers to watch every weekend.

Yanga to Compact (₦13,000) and Compact to Premium (₦25,500 a month)

On DStv, getting Stars means moving from Yanga to Compact, which adds ₦13,000 a month.

Movies+ is where the bill really climbs. From Compact, Premium adds ₦25,500 a month, the biggest single step in this article. You get one more movie channel plus the rest of the top tier, so the value depends on how much of that rest your family actually watches. Weigh it against MultiChoice's promise that lower packages now get some films up to six months sooner.

You'll also see DStv Movie Bundle add-ons in the AidaPay catalogue. The smaller one costs ₦2,500, with ₦3.75 cashback, and the bigger one costs ₦3,500, with ₦5.25 cashback. We haven't confirmed which channels the add-on carries since the refresh, so ask MultiChoice before you buy it as a route to any of the three channels above.

Deciding needs only a pen and paper. Write down the three or four channels your household watches in a normal week, then find the cheapest bouquet that carries every one of them and pay for that.

Paying for the bouquet you pick

Once you've chosen and have your card number to hand, you can renew on AidaPay, or pay for GOtv Max or Supa Plus the same way.

  1. Find your DStv smartcard number or GOtv IUC number on the decoder or an old receipt.
  2. Pick the bouquet by its exact name, such as "DStv Compact" or "GOtv Supa Plus".
  3. Check the price against the table above.
  4. Read the account name that comes up before you confirm.
  5. Pay, then switch to your movie channel.

Channel still blank after paying? First check that the money went to the right smartcard or IUC number, then confirm your bouquet carries that channel. Leave the decoder on it for a few minutes. If the screen stays dark, reset it from the MyDStv or MyGOtv app or by dialling *288#. Still nothing? Call MultiChoice customer care with your receipt ready.

If your bouquet already carries your channel, keep renewing as usual and check back when MultiChoice publishes its refreshed packages, because the names and prices could shift then.
