How to Check Airtel Data Balance: *323# (Not *140#) and *310#
As at 12 October 2026, dial *323# for Airtel data and *310# for airtime. Here's what each reply shows, why *140# is a leftover, and why night or social data makes your balance look bigger.

As at 12 October 2026, Airtel Nigeria's USSD code to check data balance is *323# and the airtime balance code is *310#; *310*1# shows bonus airtime on its own. All three run over the normal network signal, so they still work after your data runs out. The old *140# belongs to the pre-2023 code list.
Below, you'll see how to check Airtel data balance on a phone or a router, and what happened to *140#. You'll also see why the figure on your screen can be bigger than the data you can actually use.
How to check Airtel data balance and airtime: *323# and *310#
You don't need data, Wi-Fi or the app for these USSD codes. USSD runs over the normal network signal, so it keeps working after your bundle has run out and WhatsApp has stopped sending your messages to the family group.

- Dial *323# to see your data.
- Read the reply. Each plan on the line shows what's left and when it expires.
- Dial *310# to see your airtime.
- Dial *310*1# to see bonus airtime separately.
The data reply covers every subscription on your line, not just the last one you bought. That helps when you've stacked a weekly plan on a monthly one and forgotten which ends first. Check each plan's validity (its expiry date) before you buy another plan.
Your airtime check also shows any airtime loan you owe, and so does *303#. For call minutes, dial *234*8#.
On an Airtel MiFi or router
A router SIM can't dial anything by itself, so slip the SIM into a phone, dial *323# and pick your device type from the menu that comes up. If you'd rather leave the SIM where it is, open the MyAirtel app, add the router's HBB number (the number tied to your home broadband SIM) and read its balance on the dashboard.
If *323# doesn't work
- Dial *312# and open My Account. Your data balance and expiry sit in the same menu you use to buy a plan.
- Open the MyAirtel app. The home screen shows your airtime and data, but the app needs an internet connection.
- If the figures look wrong, complain to Airtel and keep the reference number. If Airtel doesn't sort it out, call 622, the NCC's toll-free consumer line.
Still dialling *140# or *123#? Airtel's new balance codes
*140# for data and *123# for airtime were Airtel's own codes. They date from before the NCC made every network use one set of short codes.
On that shared list, *310# checks your balance. Data balance sits on *323#, recharge on *311#, and data plans on *312#. The old network codes ran side by side with the shared ones until 17 May 2023.
Neither *140# nor *123# is on the shared list, so neither is a code to save. Use *323# for data and *310# for airtime. Your cousin on MTN or Glo dials the same codes.
Airtel night data: why a big balance can still leave you offline
Many Airtel plans now come with extra data that sits in its own bucket. The weekly 1GB plan and the monthly plans each add a 2GB YouTube Night bonus plus 200MB for YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. On the weekly plan that is 3.2GB in total, but only 1GB of it opens an ordinary website in the daytime.
Some cheap plans are social-only from the start. Airtel 1GB (Social Media) works only on social apps such as WhatsApp and TikTok, not on websites.
Airtel plans and their extra buckets, AidaPay prices as at 12 October 2026
| Plan | Price (cashback) | Extra data, and where it works |
|---|---|---|
| AidaPay: Airtel 1GB, 1 day | ₦495 (₦2 cashback) | None |
| AidaPay: Airtel 1GB (Social Media), 3 days | ₦296 (₦1 cashback) | None; the whole 1GB is social apps only |
| AidaPay: Airtel 1GB, weekly | ₦790 (₦4 cashback) | 2GB YouTube Night + 200MB YouTube, Instagram, TikTok |
| AidaPay: Airtel 2GB, 1 month | ₦1,485 (₦10.19 cashback) | 2GB YouTube Night + 200MB YouTube, Instagram, TikTok |
| AidaPay: Airtel 3GB, 1 month | ₦1,980 (₦15 cashback) | 2GB YouTube Night + 200MB YouTube, Instagram, TikTok |
| AidaPay: Airtel 10GB, 1 month | ₦3,950 (₦20 cashback) | 2GB YouTube Night + 200MB YouTube, Instagram, TikTok |
For daytime data that opens any website, buy cheap Airtel data on AidaPay, for your own line or someone else's.
Your data reply might show a healthy total while Chrome still won't load a page in the afternoon. Night data only works during Airtel's night window, and social data won't open a website or send a work email, however big the number on your screen looks. Read every line, not just the biggest number.
Airtime works the same way. Bonus credit from a recharge promo sits apart from your main balance, so your main airtime can look lower than you expected straight after a top-up. Dial *310*1# to see that credit by itself.
One more thing people ask. You can't check the data balance of another Airtel number by USSD. The owner of the line has to dial the code on their own phone.
Data gone overnight? Check this before you top up
Data that vanishes overnight is usually your phone's doing. App updates, photo backup and auto-play videos chew through a bundle while you sleep, faster than small chops disappear at an owambe. Switch those off, note your balance before you sleep and check it again in the morning, so you can see exactly how much went while the phone sat on the table.
If the numbers still don't add up after a night with those apps switched off, use the complaint steps in the checklist above. Once you know what's left, topping up is easy.
If someone at home uses another network, keep the data balance codes for MTN, Glo and T2 close. For loans, recharge and the rest, save the full list of Airtel USSD codes on your phone tonight.
