GOtv subscription packages: which one fits your home

Most homes should pay for GOtv Jolli at ₦5,800 a month. Football fans who want every Premier League game live need Supa+, because no other package carries all of them. Across the six GOtv subscription packages, everything in between comes down to how much your house cares about films, cartoons and Spanish football.

We went through every package page on GOtv Nigeria's site and compared the channel grids side by side. Every price below comes from those pages. That kind of legwork is dull, but it settles the argument that starts in the parlour and ends with somebody sulking.

Only Smallie comes in longer bundles. Three months costs ₦5,100, and a full year costs ₦15,000. Paid that way, Smallie works out to ₦1,250 a month. Over twelve months you save ₦7,800 compared with renewing monthly. In a sapa month, though, finding that lump sum up front is the hard part, and renewing one month at a time quietly costs more.

Match GOtv subscription packages to who's watching

Three kinds of household cover most GOtv homes: the light viewer, the family set and the football fan. Each has a clear pick. The gap between neighbouring packages tells you whether moving up one step is money well spent or money you'll resent by the end of the month.

If the TV is mostly for news, cartoons and Nollywood reruns

Smallie or Jinja is the choice here, and the ₦2,000 gap between them buys more than it looks like it should.

Smallie gives you 19 local channels, one sports channel and one kids' channel. By GOtv's own count it has no movie channel at all. That hurts in a house where evenings belong to Nollywood, because Africa Magic only starts on Jinja. Jinja also brings news from Arise and Al Jazeera, plus SuperSport Kick-off for a little football.

Think about who holds the remote. An aunty who watches Yoruba films every evening will be complaining by Wednesday on Smallie. Jinja keeps the peace for about ₦67 more a day. A set that only ever shows local stations and the nine o'clock news needs nothing more than Smallie, paid a year at a time, since nothing GOtv sells costs less.

Paid monthly, the step from Smallie to Jinja adds ₦24,000 over a year. That's real money. Set it against the films the house would otherwise miss and the evenings spent flicking between local stations, and for most homes with a Nollywood fan in them, Jinja wins the argument.

If it's a family set: Africa Magic, children and a bit of sport

Jolli is the pick for most families. Everything on Jinja stays, and the telenovela crowd gets Zee World and Telemundo. Small children get Disney Junior, while whoever follows the news gets BBC World News and CNN. Unless one particular channel is dragging you higher, stop there.

Max costs ₦2,700 more a month. That's roughly ₦90 a day. Comparing the two grids, we found 13 channels on Max that Jolli lacks. For children, the big ones are Cartoon Network and Moonbug Kids, and for football, Max adds SuperSport La Liga and SS Football. Go up when the children have watched everything on Disney Junior twice, or when someone argues Barcelona versus Real Madrid over breakfast. Otherwise, that extra ₦32,400 a year does more good as data.

If you plan your weekend around Premier League kick-offs

The gap widens at the top, where Supa+ costs ₦5,400 a month more than Supa. On the Supa page, GOtv promises "English Premier League matches", which means some of them, not all. Only Supa+ carries the dedicated SuperSport Premier League channel. GOtv's season notice for 2025/26 put all 380 league games on that channel. A fan who can't bear to miss an away fixture at an awkward kick-off time ends up paying the higher price for exactly that reason.

Be honest about how much football you really watch. Nobody sits through every match in a round. Follow only your own club and Supa+ buys you about four matches a month, which works out to ₦4,200 for every game you actually sit down for.

Supa still earns its place. WWE starts there, and so do Nick Jr and Nicktoons. A house that wants kids' channels and some wrestling can stop at Supa without regret and take whatever Premier League games turn up. Over a year, the jump to Supa+ costs ₦64,800. Hold that number against how many of your club's games you missed last season, not how many you felt you missed.

Pay for Supa+ in football season, not all year

Of the six GOtv subscription packages, Supa+ is the one to time. The English season runs from August to May. June is dead time for a Premier League fan on Supa+, and switching down between seasons is the easiest saving you'll make all year.

We costed four ways to run a year at today's prices. Jolli every month comes to ₦69,600. Supa+ every month comes to ₦201,600. Keeping Supa+ from August to May and dropping to Jolli for the two quiet months lands at ₦179,600.

The fourth plan is the one we'd copy. You sit on Max for eight months and pay for Supa+ in only four: December for the festive fixtures, then March, April and May for the title and relegation races. That year comes to ₦135,200.

Against a full year of Supa+, that plan keeps ₦66,400 in your pocket. It still shows every match in the months that settle the table. The catch is real, though. From August to November, and again in January and February, you won't have the dedicated Premier League channel, so plenty of your club's matches happen without you. Compared with Jolli all year, the plan costs ₦65,600 more. Say that figure out loud before anyone in the house promises the upgrade is only for the big matches.

Switching happens from the self-service dashboard on GOtv's site or in the MyGOtv app. In a 2024 upgrade-promotion FAQ, MultiChoice said it turns unused days on your old package into money on your account instead of wiping them. The same document said an upgrade can take up to 48 hours to show. That FAQ covered one promotion, so treat it as a guide to how the system behaves rather than a promise. Check your balance in the app after you switch.

Set a phone reminder the day you upgrade and another for late May. Going back down is the step people forget. A Supa+ payment made in June out of habit buys a whole month with no Premier League in it.

Prices move, too. MultiChoice raised GOtv prices from March 2025 and pointed to rising operating costs, according to Premium Times. Treat every figure here as a snapshot from 28 September 2026, and check the price on the day you pay.

Before you pay: the IUC number, the due date and the E16 screen

Every payment goes to your IUC number, which GOtv uses to identify your decoder. One wrong digit and you've paid for a stranger's TV. Most payment screens show the account name before you confirm. Read it slowly and compare it with the name the decoder was registered under. A wrong digit can still land on a real account, and chasing that money back is slow, tiring work. If you don't recognise the name, stop.

Pay a day or two before the due date. Once the subscription runs out, E16 appears on screen, and GOtv's FAQ puts it bluntly: "your decoder has been disconnected". When you've paid and the channels still haven't come back, GOtv's fix is short:

1. Make sure the decoder is switched on.
2. Text RESET and your IUC number to 44688.
3. If E30 shows instead, GOtv says the decoder has been off or without signal for a long time. Once you've paid in full, the same RESET text clears it.

Manage the account in the MyGOtv app, or renew your GOtv subscription online through AidaPay with the same IUC number. Whichever way you pay, screenshot the receipt, because customer care will ask for it first.

Before this month's renewal, check the due date on your last receipt and decide whether yours is a Jolli house or a football house. For a football house, write down now the month you'll drop back down, because nobody remembers in June.
