GOtv subscription packages: which one fits your home

Most homes should pay for GOtv Jolli at ₦5,800 a month. Want every Premier League game live? Then it's Supa+ at ₦16,800, since no other package carries all of them. Across the six GOtv subscription packages, everything in between comes down to how much your house cares about films, cartoons and Spanish football.

On 28 September 2026 I opened every package page on GOtv Nigeria's site and went through the channel grids one by one, which is boring work, but it settles the kind of argument that starts in the parlour and ends with somebody sulking. Every price below comes from those pages. For the per-day column I divided each monthly price by 30, because a daily figure is easier to weigh against your bus fare, and on that maths Jolli comes to ₦193 a day.

The quick answer, with this month's prices

Only Smallie comes in longer bundles: ₦5,100 for three months, ₦15,000 for a year. Paid yearly, that's ₦1,250 a month and ₦7,800 saved against twelve monthly renewals. The catch? Finding ₦15,000 up front, which in a sapa month is no small ask, and which is why most people I know still renew Smallie one month at a time and quietly pay more for it.

If the TV is mostly for news, cartoons and Nollywood reruns

Smallie or Jinja.

That's your choice, and the ₦2,000 gap buys more than it looks like it should. Smallie has 19 local channels, one sports channel and one kids' channel, and by GOtv's own count not a single movie channel, which matters more than it sounds in a house where the evenings belong to Nollywood. Africa Magic only starts on Jinja: Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Family and Epic, all five missing from Smallie. On top of those, Jinja brings Arise News, News Central, Al Jazeera and SuperSport Kick-off.

Think about who holds the remote. An aunty who watches Yoruba films every evening will be complaining by Wednesday on Smallie, and for about ₦67 more a day Jinja keeps the peace. Does the set only ever show local stations and the nine o'clock news? Then pay for Smallie a year at a time, since nothing GOtv sells costs less. Paid month by month, the Smallie to Jinja step adds up to ₦24,000 over a year, which is real money. Set it against the films the house would otherwise miss and the evenings spent flicking between local stations, though.

For most homes with a Nollywood fan in them, Jinja wins the argument.

If it's a family set: Africa Magic, children and a bit of sport

Buy Jolli.

Everything on Jinja stays, and on top you get Zee World and Telemundo for the telenovela crowd, Disney Junior for small children, BBC World News, CNN, Nat Geo Wild and ESPN. Unless one particular channel is dragging you higher, stop there.

Max costs ₦2,700 more. Roughly ₦90 a day. Putting the two channel grids side by side, I counted 13 channels on Max that Jolli doesn't have, and the ones worth knowing about are Cartoon Network, Moonbug Kids, Movie Room, Star Life, MTV, Trace Naija, Discovery ID and two football channels, SuperSport La Liga and SS Football. Go up to Max when the children have finished everything on Disney Junior twice, or when someone argues Barcelona versus Real Madrid over breakfast. Neither sounds like your house? That extra ₦32,400 a year does more good as data.

If you plan your weekend around Premier League kick-offs

Here the gap gets wider.

Supa costs ₦11,400; Supa+ costs ₦16,800. On the Supa page, GOtv promises "English Premier League matches". Not all of them. Only Supa+ carries the dedicated SuperSport Premier League channel, and GOtv's 2025/26 season notice said that channel shows all 380 league games, which is why the fan who can't bear to miss their club's away fixture at an awkward kick-off time ends up paying the higher price. So what does the extra ₦5,400 buy? A Premier League season has 38 rounds and a normal month holds about four, so moving from Supa to Supa+ costs roughly ₦1,350 a weekend. Ten matches a round means 40 games in a four-round month, or ₦420 a game on Supa+.

You won't watch 40.

If you only follow your own club, the same ₦16,800 buys you about four matches a month, which works out to ₦4,200 for every game you actually sit down for. Be honest with yourself about that number.

Supa still earns its place. WWE starts there, and so do Nick Jr and Nicktoons, so a house that wants kids' channels and some wrestling, and will happily take whatever Premier League games turn up outside the dedicated channel, can stop at Supa without regret. Over twelve months the Supa to Supa+ gap comes to ₦64,800. Hold that number against how many of your club's games you actually missed last season, not against how many you felt you missed.

Pay for Supa+ in football season, not all year

Of the six GOtv subscription packages, Supa+ is the one to time. Nobody needs it in June, not for the Premier League anyway: the English season runs from August to May, and switching down in the gap between seasons is the easiest saving you'll make all year.

Using today's prices, I costed four ways to run a year. Jolli every month: ₦69,600. Supa+ every month: ₦201,600. Keep Supa+ from August to May, drop to Jolli for June and July, and the year lands at ₦179,600. The fourth plan sits on Max for eight months and pays for Supa+ in only four, December for the festive fixtures and then March, April and May, when the title and relegation races get settled, and it comes to ₦135,200.

I'd copy that last one.

Against a full year of Supa+, it keeps ₦66,400 in your pocket and still shows every match in the months that decide the table. Some games will slip past you in the other eight months, and only you know what those are worth. Put the same plan next to Jolli all year and it costs ₦65,600 more, about ₦5,470 a month on average. That is the honest price of following the run-in properly, and it's worth saying out loud before anyone in the house promises it's only for the big matches.

Can you upgrade halfway through a month? Switching happens from the self-service dashboard on GOtv's site or in the MyGOtv app. In a 2024 upgrade-promotion FAQ, MultiChoice said it turns the unused days on your old package into money on your account instead of wiping them, and that an upgrade can take up to 48 hours to show. That document covered one promotion. Read it as a guide to how the system behaves, not a promise, and check your balance in the app after you switch.

Set a phone reminder the day you upgrade and another for late May, because going back down is the step people forget, and a Supa+ payment made in June out of habit is ₦16,800 spent on a month with no Premier League in it.

Prices change, too. From 1 March 2025 MultiChoice raised GOtv prices and pointed to rising operating costs, according to Premium Times. Treat every figure here as what GOtv listed on 28 September 2026.

Before you pay: the IUC number, the due date and the E16 screen

Every payment goes to your IUC number, the number GOtv uses to identify your decoder. One wrong digit and you've paid for a stranger's TV. Most payment screens show the account name before you confirm, so read it slowly and compare it with the name the account was opened under, because a wrong digit can still land on a real account that belongs to someone else, and chasing that money back is slow, tiring work. Don't recognise the name? Stop.

Pay a day or two before the due date. Once the subscription runs out, E16 appears on screen, and GOtv's FAQ doesn't soften it: "your decoder has been disconnected". Paid, but the channels still haven't returned? GOtv's fix is short:

1. Make sure the decoder is switched on.
2. Text RESET and your IUC number to 44688.
3. Seeing E30 instead? GOtv says the decoder has been off or without signal for a long time. Once you've paid in full, the same RESET text to 44688 clears it.

Manage the account in the MyGOtv app, or renew your GOtv subscription online through AidaPay with the same IUC number. Whichever way you pay, screenshot the receipt. Customer care will ask for it first.

Before this month's renewal, check the due date on your last receipt and decide whether yours is a Jolli house or a football house. If it's football, write down now the month you'll drop back down, because nobody remembers in June.
